Camping

It was nothing short of a miracle, but I got four days off in a row from work. So we decided to go camping since the weather is getting nice. We even brought along my parents and my brother Jared, who just finished his first year at BYU and got his mission call to Santiago, Chile. We went to Yosemite Thursday-Saturday. I haven't been there since I was a kid. We got a couple of camp sites outside of the valley that were next to each other. Then we went fishing. My mom has the pictures of our fishing trip, I'll have to post later but just so you know I hooked 5! One got away as soon as I got it on shore and one was too puny to keep. Poor Adam and my dad only got one each. I haven't been fishing in years and we sure had a yummy dinner. Olivia had a blast too. She wasn't really interested in holding a pole but got really excited when we caught a fish. She was also very intrigued when we gutted the fish. She's so funny, always asking me what it looks like in peoples stomach and heads, etc, since I look at that stuff at work all day. We all slept great the first night and then headed into Yosemite valley, where all the great sites are. We brought our bikes and rode and hiked all over to see everything. Olivia is such a trooper, she did great. Bribes with candy didn't hurt either. It was so beautiful and relaxing. The weather was great. The second night was colder and I didn't sleep as well. My dad thinks he heard a bear. I am deathly afraid of bears so I'm glad I didn't hear it. It doesn't help that I watched the movie Grizzly Man a few days before our trip. The movie is a documentary about a crazy man who tried to live among the grizzlies in Alaska and ultimately he and his girlfriend were eaten by one. The kicker is there was audio of the attack from a camera that was on, but had the cap on the lens. They don't play the audio during the movie, but it is described by the coroner and sounds awful. I know black bears are 'fraidy cats compared to grizzlies, but I'm still scared. Anyway, the trip was such a refresher. It was much needed time away from work and daily chores to just be in nature with my family. My folks and Jared stayed at our house Saturday night and went with us to church on Sunday. I always like to show off my parents because they are so young and cute. People can't believe that they are old enough to be my parents. It was a nice Mother's Day. I made yummy popovers for breakfast and then my mom made a yummy pineapple glazed ham for dinner. Dishes of course we done by my hubby. What a great weekend. It's back to the grind tomorrow. Happy Mother's Day to all.
