Halloween

Our Halloween got started at a local pumpkin patch. It was the best one I've ever been to. In the bay area we went to a small farm not far from us but the selections and prices were outrageous. We'd shell out $40 for three or four pumpkins. Lame! This place was awesome for families. There was a corn maze, sunflower walk, slide and playgrounds of all sorts-like a ghost town and barn yard, etc. There was a train ride, cider mill, petting zoo, hayride, bakery, BBQ, and a marble mine. We took a family new to our ward with us, who have a girl Olivia's age. Benjamin slept the whole time. The pumpkin selection was incredible. It is a 65 acre farm and we got some great pumpkins and only spent $11! Awesome!

Halloween stretched the weekend for us. Olivia was Rapunzel, but her cheap wig had jacked up bangs and I jacked then up even more by trying to use a flat iron(on low heat) to straighten them. So, I had to use bobby pins to hold them down, but you could see the netting through the hair and I had no ribbons to cover it so I used a sash that came with my wedding dress to cover it up. It kinda looks like a turban, but she didn't mind and it was cute enough. She just loved the long braid on it. Benji was Mommy's little pumpkin. Olivia had her class party on Thursday and we carved pumpkins that afternoon.

Then, Olivia's school had a trunk-or-treat. It was lame compared to last year. There were fewer cars and instead of just handing out candy half the cars had sand bag games the kids had to play to get candy. So, there was a line to get candy at every car and it took us about 45 minutes to go to about 15 cars. Needless to say we only went around once before we jetted. Then on Saturday our ward had a trunk-or-treat. It was far better and actually pretty fun. Everyone brought chili and corn bread to share, plus they had mac-n-cheese and hot dogs for the kids. Then there was a spook alley and games in the gym. There was a costume parade and prizes and the last half-hour we did a trunk-or-treat. I just sat on the back of my wagon with Benji and passed out candy from a diaper box. I couldn't be bothered with decorating. Besides the kids just want candy. I actually had a good time. So did Olivia and her friends. The we decided to sin and go out for real trick or treating. We kind of justified it because the candy was already bought, we didn't miss church and it was a family activity. Adam took Olivia out with some girls from our ward and their dad and I hung out with their mom and her new baby and watched the Giants game. Of course, Olivia stayed up too late, ate too much candy and was in tears by the end of the night, but I think Halloween was a success anyway.

Cute pictures! You're kids look so cute. I wish our ward did the trunk or treat thing, but they didn't. It's so much easier and faster than neighborhood trick or treating.

Love your craftiness in solving the wig issues :) Benji is so cute! I am sad for the day when the girls won't want to be cute princesses and instead want to be vampires or something else slutty.
