Anniversary

Well, this is only about a month late, but for our anniversary Adam and I did not get presents for each other and instead got creative with cards and candy and then decided to ruin it with another half-marathon. My training went well this time, I was running up to 12 miles with no knee pain. Then three miles into the race I started getting a knee ache in my left knee (last time it was my right knee) and it plagued me the rest of the race. I actually kept my pace fast until the last two miles and hobbled/ran to the finish line. My time was actually 5 minutes faster than last time and I'm sure I could have gotten under two hours if I wasn't crippled at the end. It was a night race, so when I finished I started getting cold and along with the extreme pain I was in I thought I was going into shock. I couldn't stop shivering and I had to wait for Adam to finish. He wasn't in much better shape when he finished either. We limped and shivered to the car afterward, warmed up and drove to In-n-Out Burger and chowed on double-doubles and crispy fries. What a hot date I tell you. Especially when Adam nearly threw it up. The kicker was the email we received a few days later from the race managers saying that they messed up the race course and we actually missed part of mile 6, so my time probably wasn't any faster, and possible slower. So, we have one more half-marathon we are doing in October and then we plan to retire for the time being. I'm not sure if my knees can handle the long distances much more. Sorry, no pics this time, I couldn't make myself fork out the $60 to buy one picture of each of us from the race photographers. We got the cool glow-in-the-dark medals for finishing though.

For our cards I made Adam a list of things I love about him (good-looking, tall, muscular, etc-hee hee hee) and put it in a large bowl of things he loves (gummies, red vines, Dove dark chocolate, etc.). Did you ever get a candy gram? I never did, but I always thought they were cool. That is what he did for me. Hopefully you can read it, the picture is a little off center.

I know the candy and running are polar opposites of each other, but we're normal and this proves it!

I love candy grams! We've done that for Eric on father's day-the best part is sharing all the treats together :-)
Impressive with another half so soon you two (and planning a third?) I guess that's the way to do it though....get trained for one and then do three in a row. better than re-training every other year. Happy Anniversary!!

I'm jealous of your candy gram, very cool. I've never had one either. Congrats on your race too.
