We just bought two stand-up paddle boards (SUP) with paddles at a great price. We love summer and we love the lake and SUP are the best. They are a great full body workout, especially the core. They take a lot of energy to balance and propel yourself forward, you even feel it in your feet and calves keeping yourself steady. Anyway, Adam and I have gone a couple of times and loved it and we can take the kids along too. We drove to local Lake Natoma, formed from damming the American River, where the Sacramento State Crew team rows. The water is smooth and wide open and there are no motorized boats. There were a lot of geese that tried to hang out with us. Olivia kept chasing them off, however they left plenty of little calling cards all over the beach-yuck-we had to rake our beach site first. During Ben's second or third time out he turned to look back at Adam and rolled into the water. The life jacket did what it should but he was pretty freaked. When Adam got him back up on the board he just put his face in his hands and cried a little. Adam paddled a little longer and by the time he got back to shore Ben was totally asleep. I slipped his life jacket off and he slept in the shade tent. Kind of funny. Olivia really took to it. We only took one board this time to see if the kids would like it and we should have taken both. She was a total board hog. I'm glad because sometimes we have a hard time finding things she like to do with us because we can't always be super adventurous with the little kids. Obviously we didn't take Rachel on the board, we just let her crawl around the tent and get dirty in the sand.
Totally asleep!

Fun! I can't believe Rachel is sitting up already! Time goes by so fast for other people!
